This is a lovely preserving jar and appears to be much better quality than standard kilner jars but unfortunately the top is a fraction too small to use my new pickle pipe set. The silicone pickle pipe fits fine and the most I would have to do is trim the edges by a fraction but the glass weight will not fit in the neck. At one point I thought it was stuck and I would have to smash the jar to get my weight back. I could use a cabbage leaf and a stone instead of the weight but having just paid a small fortune for a complete kit, I want to be able to make the most of it.I'll have to give in and buy wide mouth Ball jars as recommended by Pickle Pipes.ADDEDRavenhead kilner jars from the 60/70s are the perfect answer for using with Pickle Pipes with glass followers. The jars with orange, red, yellow or brown plastic screw rings. Exactly the right size. Look on ebay.
